Take a feature tour of BackupAssist.
The configuration wizard aims to simply the initial configuration process, guiding the user through each step in order to get the program up and running as quickly as possible.
The screenshot below shows the main interface of BackupAssist. The user can select existing backup jobs from the buttons on the top of the screen. Clicking on the buttons down the left side of the screen brings up windows that allow the user to fine-tune the backup job's settings. BackupAssist's interface is designed to be clear, intuitive and exceptionally simple to use.
Unsure about scheduling and media rotation? Backup schedules can be implemented in BackupAssist with a few clicks of a mouse. A range of preconfigured media rotation schemes, such as the powerful 'Grandfather-Father-Son' scheme, can be selected from a menu. Beginners and experienced users alike can have an industry-standard rotation scheme up and running within seconds, without fiddling with tedious scripts and batch-files. The calendar view shows users exactly which tapes or disks - daily, weekly, monthly and so on - to use each day, according to the selected rotation scheme.
BackupAssist's custom schemes provide advanced users with greater flexibility. Users can choose the backup method (full, incremental or differential backups) and backup mode (overwrite or append to media) for each day of the week.
BackupAssist's interface provides ultimate flexibility when it comes to selecting which files and directories to back up. Browse the directory tree, including or excluding individual files or entire directories.
BackupAssist can send daily reminder emails to users, telling them which tape or disk needs to be inserted into the drive. This is aimed at minimizing the possibility of human error in the backup process, and it also makes the media rotation scheme exceptionally easy to follow because the user doesn't have to remember which tape or disk should be used each day.
BackupAssist can send out detailed HTML or text backup report emails to system administrators or technicians, keeping them informed of the result of each backup. This is a key feature that keeps users informed of any errors that may have occurred, and allows them to take the appropriate action.
BackupAssist's built-in Report Viewer provides you with a quick-view of the full history of backup report logs. Each entry can be opened in order to view a detailed report about the backup.
