“Wow, I just booted a virtual machine from its backup files. Veeam FTW. Seriously, this is innovation at its finest! Beyond impressed.” And “v5 is awesome, instant recovery works like a charm!”

Hi Shy,

As far as a better backup technique this is mostly dependent on personal preference. While someone may find backing up to external hard drives better for their situation, someone else may find tape better.
The only real rule I give out when asked questions like this is 'are you comfortable in being able to restore your data using this method?' If you're comfortable then it's likely you've got the right backup strategy for your situation.
It's also a good idea to run your backup to multiple locations/media in the event of a major disaster you have that extra layer of protection.

Thanks,
Stuart

Most people think that backing up to external HDD is enough. But I was just wondering what your thoughts were to which is the better backup technique: Disk-to-Disk OR Disk-to-Disk-to-Tape strategy?

Wonder how many people actually even do the 3 backup steps? Most people think that backing up to external HDD is enough. There's too much security treat these days to rely only on 1 or 2 backups.
