Hi Binoy,
Thank you for your question, unfortunately I am having difficulty understanding the process you are trying to do.
Our restore process is outlined at the following URL: http://backupassist.com/education/video ... restorevid

If you would like to explain a little further what you are doing to perform the restore with the Linux environment that may assist us in offering you advice.

I would also like to take the brief opportunity to inform you that we have discontinued all technical support for version 3 of BackupAssist as of the end of June 2008. We are encouraging version 3 users to upgrade to version 4 and take advantage of the benefits of the new version of BackupAssist.

You can read more about version 4 and even download a free trial at our website: http://www.backupassist.com/BackupAssist/download.php

If you’ve been thinking about upgrading to BackupAssist v4 but haven’t had the time to evaluate, or if you want to see why you should upgrade from BackupAssist v3 to BackupAssist v4, you may also want to take a look at the feature comparison document on our website: http://www.backupassist.com/downloads/c ... nV3-V4.pdf
If you decide to upgrade to version 4 of BackupAssist please visit http://www.backupassist.com/purchasing/upgrade.php for more details.
Kind regards,

Sally Chamness

What is the best way to backup 600GB of data? Need to back up 2 pairs of 300GB disks in a RAID 1 configuration. Creation time and cost are important. Because it is unlikly to have two harddrives fail at the same time, ease of restoration is not important.

Thank You, for contacting us regarding BackupAssist. My name is Mike Deaton, and I am one of the members of the support staff.

If you are looking for a speedy way to backup a large amount of data I would recommend using USB Hard Drives to do this. It will be one of your fastest options for transfer speeds.

I hope this information has helped answer your question. If you need further assistance please let us know.
Thank You,
Mike Deaton

Backups must follow a strict naming convention. I believe I have seen this problem when a user renamed the file or the browser thought it would be clever and rename the file name it was given. I am assuming that the backup you made was an HTTP, direct download backup

Thanks
