Email Reminder / Tape Label

Postby pezza » Wed Sep 27, 2006 2:55 am

Hi,

One of our backup jobs runs at 02:00 each morning. I have set up an email reminder to remind to change the tapes at 15:00 (effectively the day before), but I have noticed that the reminder sent today is saying to insert "Tuesday Week 1", when the correct tape should be "Wednesday Week 1" as the backup will occur early hours of Wednesday morning.

I have noticed that the label is defined by %label%. Is this variable set from the current day regardless of when the next scheduled job takes place? As the date/day of the next scheduled job is not going to be current day.

Will this also affect my backup job that runs, due to backup thinking it wants Tuesday Week 1 rather than Wednesday Week 1. I will find out tomorrow I suppose :D

Thanks

Andy

Hi Andy,

Andrew again from BackupAssist support.

If the backup is running between the hours of midnight and 12pm the next day the backup is classified as the day before (eg. a job that runs at 2am Wednesday is called Tuesday). The rationalle for this is that the job running at 2am is running Tuesday night and the tape is being put in the drive on Tuesday, not Wednesday.

If you have a look on the Schedule tab in BackupAssist you will see that just next to where you specify the time for the backup it says 'on the morning after the scheduled day' for a job set to run midnight to 12pm or 'on the scheduled day' for a job running from 12pm to midnight.

I hope this makes sense, but please let me know if you have any questions.

I am going to move this post to the Technical Support forum as this forum is for Feedback and Feature Requests, not support.
Andrew
