Postby Toffs » Tue May 22, 2012 2:06 am

Hello,

I've followed this instruction set:

http://kb.backupassist.com/print.php?aid=3247

..but still getting BA1893 Fatal error.

Report file details (using Microsoft Exchange Server 2010):

Export Summary Server: ###SERVER NAME### (Exchange 2010), grouping: 2012
Configuration Setup: Require Outlook MAPI/Unicode PST
Exbackup version: Jun 4 2011, 11:35:20
Mapi Details: version 12.0 at C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\OLMAPI32.DLL
Mapi Inf:
Details Mailboxes: 27, Folders: 600
Messages Successful: 28714, Failed: 0

What do you suggest ?

Cheers,
Toffs

And to answer my own post (for anyone else)..

Install the MAPI file (from microsoft) to the local server exchange directory - I guess as I was connecting to the exchange server remotely the BackupAssist program wasn't installing it where it was needed.

Hello Craig,

Thanks for contacting us in relation to BackupAssist. I'm Michael Jones, one of the technical support engineers.
I am sorry that you are having an issue with our product. I would like very much to work with you to resolve any problems as quickly as possible.

I'm afraid that I'll require some additional information from you.
Would it be possible for you to send in a set of diagnostic information from BackupAssist?
To send us diagnostic information please follow these steps:

1) Go to Contact Support (from the bottom-left corner of the console) -> Contact Support
2) Fill out the form and ensure that the Submit system diagnostics checkbox at the bottom is checked.

If you have any issues using our automated support tool please follow these steps to manually send in your diagnostics file:

1. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data (server 2003/XP) or C:\ProgramData\ (server 2008/Vista/Win7)
2. Email support@backupassist.com a zipped version of the following folder: BackupAssist vX (Where X is the version that you are running)

If you find this file is too large to e-mail, you can trim down the size of the logs by removing anything older than a week within the following folders under the BackupAssist folder
- Summaries
- History
- Reports
- Temp
With the Temp folder, it's the default destination for PST and SQL backups to be stored during the backup process, so if there are any of these types of backups contained in it, you can remove these as well as we don't require them.

Should you have additional questions or concerns Craig, please don't hesitate to contact me - I'd be glad to assist you.

Thank You,
Michael R. Jones

BUMP !

Ok, I make a new job for doing exchange and it backs up the data fine (7hours). Every time it comes to doing repeat of that job it takes a fraction of the time (8mins) which is fine, but there are yellow warning triangles against some of the mailbox users. The following error message appears in the report:

BA1893 Fatal error encountered. This can be caused by a faulty MAPI installation, so try re-installing Microsoft Exchange Server MAPI Client and Collaboration Data Objects

This is the info just below, under 'Configuration':
Setup: Require Outlook MAPI/Unicode PST
Exbackup version:
Mapi Details: version 12.0 at C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\OLMAPI32.DLL
Mapi Inf:

I have manually installed the MAPI Client and colab. from the microsoft website, as well as doing the update through BAssist. It does look like the MAPI info is fine, as you can see above it recognises version 12.0 is installed.

Also, the message successful/failed indicator for all the mailboxes show's NO failures.

Its getting quite important, any advice, things to try etc ???

Cheers,
Toffs

^^^ and just to update:

I canot install the latest microsft MAPI stuff onto the BAssist machine as outlook is aleady on there. I cannot remove outlook because we run Business Contact Manager.

However, when running the update through BAssist, it doesn't bring up any errors about this!?
