Perhaps this has a very easy answer, but cannot find it...
Is there a way to select only specific files to backup?
I need to backup only specific files in the folder. Working with the exclusion list is not easy, and would need to create an 'inclusion list' (with wildcards).
I haven't been able to find how to enter an inclusion list. Perhaps it can't be done... Workarounds?
Thanks,
Alberto

Thank you for contacting BackupAssist.
At the moment the only way to Backup specific files within a folder is to browse to that folder via the jobs "Files and Folders" setting and place a check mark next to the desired files.
We can currently only offer file exclusion, and base the exclusions on specific file extensions.

Pity for you answer... Any chance to have this option in the wishlist for a future release? Or is it better that I make a new post in the Feature Request area?
Is it a so odd request to use BA to backup only specific group of files?
In the meantime I think I'll have to work out a temporary workaround perhaps using ATTRIB command to force the -a archive bit in the files I need to backup and then starting an incremental/differential backup. However this will mess-up the archive bit for all the files and I would have preferred not to.
Thanks,
Alberto

Thank you for your response.
Your request has been added to the developers Feature Request list so that they can consider this for inclusion on a future release.
The only way to specify which files you wish to back up is through the file selection feature.
Please subscribe to our release RSS feed by clicking on the 'Subscribe Now' button located at

This will then e-mail you when we have made updates to BackupAssist and when a new release of the software available for download.
