Backing up SQL Servers (SQL Server 2000, 2005, 2008)

  1. Before the work day begins, perform a full backup of all databases
  2. During the work day, backup your databases at 15 minute intervals (transaction log backup)

Near-continuous protection - backup every 5, 10, or 15 minutes

Choose how many backups to keep

Keeping multiple backups is highly recommended, as it:

  1. Gives you multiple restore points
  2. Means that if one backup becomes corrupt, you have an alternative to restore from
