Setting up email notifications

When creating your backup job you can setup BackupAssist to send reminder and backup report notifications via email.

Reminder notifications only apply when using portable backup media (tape, external hard drive, CD/DVD, etc) and are used to inform an office administrator that a change of backup media is required (ie. an email that reads "Please insert disk labeled 'Tuesday' into the rdx QuikStor drive")

Report notifications are used to send backup report logs directly to an email address. Report notifications indicate whether the backup was successful or not and are important for identifying and resolving any errors that may occur.

Once you have finished creating your backup job, you can add additional notifications that can be sent via email, network broadcast message, or to a printer.
Creating additional notifications

  1. Check Add an email report notification to send backup reports via email
    1. Specify a recipient email address for the notification by either typing in a new email address or selecting from a previously entered address using the drop-down menu.
    2. Enter a secondary email address if you wish the report to be sent to two different people.
      1. Specify what reports should be sent to the secondary recipient with the drop-down menu to the right.
        • Specifying which reports to send is useful if you want to notify a particular user only when errors occur, such as the system administrator.
  2. Check Add an email reminder notification to send media change reminders via email (only applies to portable media)
    1. Specify a recipient email address for the notification by either typing in a new email address or selecting from a previously entered address using the drop-down menu.
