New BackupAssist Public Beta Release!

Please note v5.3 was released on September 23, 2009.

Register now to download and test the new BackupAssist Beta 5.3.

It contains the much awaited Zip Engine which is VSS aware, supports tape drives (even on Server 2008) , is ZIP64 compliant, allows compression & AES-256 encryption and more! It also contains the latest Exchange Mailbox Backup Engine that supports local and remote backup of Exchange 2007 server, lets you make Public Folder backups and more!

  1. Just what I’ve been waiting for

    When doing backup to tape is the ZIP file created on disk first. ie do you need free diskspace equal to the backup size

  2. Hi Mike – no, it’s done directly to tape, so you don’t need any temp space on your disk.

    Well, strictly speaking, we may use a hundred meg of temp space to improve the compression speed, but that’s about it.
