 Here's why you should upgrade

It's here.  The latest feature release of BackupAssist is now available, and that means some great new features and improvements to how your business protects its data.

The core highlights of this version include  some serious improvements to:

MultiSite Manager

  • Improved design of email reports so the information you need is easier than ever to quickly digest.
  • Ability to customize host names for MultiSite Manager servers, which can help avoid https certificate warnings.
  • Ability to configure MultiSite Manager in offline mode, if internet access is unavailable or undesired.
  • Ability to quickly and easily display all license keys within a dedicated pop-up window.
Server 2012 Deduplication
  • Backup reports now contain detailed information on any deduplicated volumes contained within a backup.
Space management for backups
  • If a backup fails due to insufficient space, it will now automatically retry after deleting the oldest backups on the drive.

What's new in tech?

New study shows email phishing attacks can make companies vulnerable in just minutes


According to a study conducted by Verizon Breach Investigations, once a phishing email has landed on a network, it only takes an average time of 1 minute and 20 seconds before somebody clicks on it.

Even more worryingly, 11% of recipients will click a malicious link or attachment, and in 24% of those cases critical data will begin to be siphoned off by attackers within minutes.

Microsoft announces 'Nano Server' for Hyper-V containers


Microsoft announced this month that they are going to be introducing a new install option in the next Server OS that allows for a 'stripped-down, minimal' version.

This slimmer version of Windows Server would be optimized for use with the cloud and containers such as Docker - which Microsoft has also reiterated it will soon support.

Last up this month, if you hate spending time in the kitchen, there's some good news headed your way!

Ars Technica took a look at the world's first fully robotic kitchen. At the moment, you'd better like crab bisque, 'cause that's all it makes...

But its designers aim to have it consumer-ready within 2 years - ultimately offering owners an "iTunes style" selection of recipes that can be downloaded and cooked for you by your robot.

All hail our culinary overlords.
