March 2015

V6 End of Life in 2 weeks!
 Keep your data protected.

Just a quick reminder, on the 31st of March 2015 we will be discontinuing all support and development of BackupAssist version 6.

That's only two weeks from today!

If you're still relying on v6 for your business-critical systems and data, it's really important that you update to a newer version as soon as possible.

If you don't, you'll be putting your business continuity in the hands of obsolete software.  And that's never a good idea.

Luckily, updating is really easy!  All you need to do is renew your Upgrade Protection and then upgrade to the latest version.

Not sure if your Upgrade Protection is valid or not? Check here!

As more and more transistors are crammed onto memory chips as time goes on, scientists have been increasingly concerned that this could cause electricity to 'leak' out and have harmful consequences for neighboring semiconductors.

Well, a team of researchers from Google's Project Zero may have shown that this is not only a problem, but that it could  potentially be manipulated by hackers to corrupt memory or even bypass security.

Scary stuff.

Microsoft reveals new open server design that includes lithium-ion batteries

Microsoft has been a part of the Open Compute Project (a group of large companies who share and standardize the designs of their cloud servers to reduce costs) since 2014.

This month, they released a new design that replaces traditional lead batteries with power-tool grade lithium-ion ones as reserve power for the servers used in their data centers.
