Hello,

I am Michael, one of the support engineers here at BackupAssist, and I would be happy to help you. BackupAssist is fully compatible with stand alone tape drives. You should have no problems backing up to this tape drive, with the use of the BackupAssist Zip-to-Tape Engine. Here is a link to our white papers on the continued use of tape drives in a Server 2008 environment:

Should you have additional questions, please don't hesitate to contact me - I'd be glad to assist you.

Thank You,
Michael R. Jones

BackupAssist is fully compatible with stand alone tape drives. So there is no issues in using Back up assist and SAS LTO3 standalone drive together, it will work without any issues. I am using BA with a standalone tape drive and never experienced any issues.

Thanks
