Configuring tape drive destination options
When using a tape drive as your backup destination, the backup works by writing data directly to the tape drive. If you require a second copy of the data on some form of disk-based storage device (local hard drive, network drive, removable hard drive, etc), you will need to create an additional backup job.
Creating additional backup jobs
There are a number of destination settings which can be configured for Tape drives.
To access these destination settings:
Tape drive options
Specify basic tape drive settings such as the tape drive device and media pool to backup to, hardware compression settings and media eject settings.
Advanced tape backup options (defaults recommended)
Enable tape retensioning and modify other advanced tape drive settings. Advanced tape drive settings should generally only be modified when requested by the BackupAssist technical support team.
Media checking
Specify how BackupAssist should handle unrecognized or unprepared tape media or if the wrong tape media is inserted (eg. Tuesday's tape is inserted on a Wednesday). These settings will determine what action BackupAssist should take (ie. backup and warn the user of incorrect media or do not backup at all).
