Estimating the size of backup selections
You can estimate the size of your selections to ensure that your backup media is able to accommodate the volume of data that you have selected for backup in the Files and Folders Window.
The estimate does not include the system state, Exchange servers in the Exchange server section, or SQL databases in the
SQL server section. The size of the system state backup can vary depending on the operating system. System State backups for Vista and Server 2008 are usually between 7GB and 15 GB when using compression via the Zip Engine. For XP and Server 2003, System State backups are generally much smaller: approximately 200MB to 300 MB. You will need to manually determine the size of your Exchange server and SQL databases if you are backing up this data.
