Backup Time and System Performance
When you try to perform a backup to your tape drive, you receieve the following within the BackupAssist event viewer:BackupAssist warning #15050
Description: Unable to get library request GUID
BackupAssist warning #15012
Description: Error occurred when finding inventory requests.
Cause
- By default, BackupAssist utilizes a small Windows API to control and access your tape drive. On rare instances particular tape drives do not function well with this API. To workaround this problem, you can use the RSM commands to access your hardware - see below.
Resolution
- To allow BackupAssist to use RSM commands to access your tape drive, disable/uncheck the following Advanced Tape Drive Settings:
- Perform Inventory before each backup
- Move tape to free media pool before each backup
This can be achieved by going to the Options tab of BackupAssist and then clicking on the link to access the Advanced Tape Drive Settings:
