When you try to perform a backup to your tape drive, you receieve the following within the BackupAssist event viewer:

*By default, BackupAssist utilizes a small Windows API to control and access your tape drive. On rare instances particular tape drives do not function well with this API. To workaround this problem, you can use the RSM commands to access your hardware - see below.

*To allow BackupAssist to use RSM commands to access your tape drive, disable/uncheck the following Advanced Tape Drive Settings:

**Perform Inventory before each backup

**Move tape to free media pool before each backup
