BackupAssist Auditing

Knowing who has interacted with the BackupAssist console is an important part of protecting your data and backups. It allows you to investigate backup problems and what changes have been made to BackupAssist and its jobs, and by who.

BackupAssist makes it easy to check who has interacted with BackupAssist by creating auditing logs and saving them to the AuditLog folder under C:\ProgramData\BackupAssist v12.

BackupAssist Auditing log

This folder contains log files that record who, when and what application was accessed along with some specific activities like when the console password is removed. The information can be especially useful to cyber investigators who need to trace what changes were made to the BackupAssist console and who made those changes.
