Description

This error occurs on foreign versions of the MUI Windows operating system. It occurs because it detects the version of ntbackup.exe as English, but your logs may be in French, German, etc. Therefore, BackupAssist cannot understand the logs.

  2. After upgrading open the BackupAssist console.
  3. Edit the affected job.
  4. Click on 'NTBackup options'.
  5. Expand the 'Advanced NTBackup options' section.
  6. At the bottom of that section set the 'Log file language'.

Resolution 2: When Backing Up Exchange

You will receive an error similar to 'The saved selection file "v4\temp\PhaseTwo-18.bks" cannot be found. Make sure that the Backup User Identity (Settings > Backup User Identity) is part of the Domain Administrator and Exchange Administrator rights. Make sure that you have the applicable version of Exchange Management Tools installed on the machine which BackupAssist is running. If you're backing up Exchange 2007, then please be aware that streaming backups of the information store are set to disabled as default. The steps to enable this through the registry are outlined at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124515.aspx.

Resolution 3: Remove the corrupt file

It's been reported that a corrupt file contained within:
C:\Documents and Settings\$user$\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\NTBackup\data

To resolve this you'll need to either find the corrupt file and remove it from that location or delete all files contained within this location and start fresh.
