Description
This issue occurs regularly when outputting to ANSI pst files and the 2Gig limit is reached (it may also happen if Unicode pst files go over 20 Gigs).Another reason for this error is that if the maximum number of messages in a folder has been exceeded. The limits are:
16383 files per folder max in ANSI pst
65534 files per folder max in Unicode pst
NTBackup is no longer supported, as outlined in our end of life policy.
Resolution
To break down the PST files so that they are not reaching these sizes try an alternate grouping method such as quarterly or monthly. If you're running an NTBackup job, then follow these steps:
1. Open BackupAssist
2. Click on 'Jobs' at the top of the BackupAssist console and select the particular job you need to change from the list provided.
3. Click on 'Exchange Servers' down the left hand side.
4. Under 'Mailbox Directory Options' change the directory to where you'd like the PST files to go to.
If you're running an Exchange Mailbox backup job, follow these steps:
1. Open BackupAssist
2. Click on 'Jobs' at the top of the BackupAssist console and select the particular job you need to change from the list provided.
3. Click on 'Destination' down the left hand side.
4. Change the 'Directory Path' to where you'd like the PST files to go to.
