BackupAssist v4.0 and later

Description

BackupAssist is trying to backup an Exchange Server that cannot be contacted.

Common causes of this include:

  • Incorrect server name
  • Insufficient permissions (especially across Domains)
  • The Exchange Server is currently unavailable, services stopped or stores dismounted
  • There is a network problem

Resolution

Please check:

  • You have selected the correct Exchange Server to backup
  • Your backup user has sufficient permissions to backup the Exchange Server (your backup user should be a member of a group with the Exchange Administrative role)
  • The Exchange Server is started and is running properly
  • Your network is setup correctly; you can ping the server
  • Your Exchange Server is on the same domain as your backup computer
