Description
There are two reason why his error may have occured.
- Volumes must be smaller than 2 TB minus (-) 4 GB to be protected
- Volumes larger than 2088958 megabytes cannot be protected
Resolution
Due to a limitation within Windows and the VHD file format, all volumes that are part of the backup must be less than 2TB in size. This limitation is only applicable to operating systems released prior to Windows Server 2012.
Our first suggestion is to use Windows Disk Management to shrink the volume below this limit. Then you should re-run the backup.
Alternatively, the File Protection or File Archiving engines provided within BackupAssist do not have this limitation, and will be able to backup volumes over 2TB in size.
