BackupAssist

BackupAssist version 5 and later

Description

This warning usually indicates that the backup destination you are using isn't compatible with single instance store.

Single instance store makes it possible for File Protection / Replication backups to share (hard-link) the same data on the destination media. If the data to be backed up already exists on the destination media, then the backup will link to it instead of saving the same data again. This means backup jobs are faster and conserve disk space.

Windows only supports single instance store on NTFS formatted volumes. If the destination media is not NTFS, then single instance store cannot be used and all the data selected in the job will be backed up each time the jobs runs. This means the backup jobs will take longer and use more storage space.

Resolution

Resolution 1 - Change the backup destination
