RecoverAssist — Beta release

Since last year, we've been working on a very important project: RecoverAssist.

  • Bare Metal Disaster Recovery (BMDR) to dissimilar hardware with different boot devices without a dreaded Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD)
  • Recover from iSCSI and VHD backup devices not supported by the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE)
  • Your very own RecoverAssist bootable recovery environment, with your own device drivers and network configuration, for Windows Server 2008 & Server 2008 R2, SBS 2008/2011 and Windows 7/Vista
  • RecoverAssist's bootable environment on CD/DVD/BD, USB Flash, SD Card, ISO or Hard Drive media can be used as a replacement for WinRE
  • RecoverAssist overcomes a multitude of BSOD issues, plus other limitations and bugs in WinRE
  • Due for release in first quarter 2012

BackupAssist v6.2.7 — Update now!
Released on November 16th, 2011

BackupAssist v6.2.7 is an important maintenance release with a significant fix to the Zip and File Replication engines. If you are using these engines then you need this update to restore the integrity of your backups. See why here.

BackupAssist v6.2.7 also has a number of other fixes and improvements in the following areas: CMC/Web, Imaging, Settings/Logging, SQL add-on, the UI and Zip. Full release notes are available here.

  • Resolved — ESET (NOD32) and BackupAssist BSOD issues — November 28, 2011 — We've had a number of cases arise where an ESET anti-virus security product and BackupAssist being installed on the same machine has resulted in the system entering a 'Blue Screen of Death' (BSOD) towards the end of the backup.   • 4 KB sector sized disks and the Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex — August 16, 2011 — The Microsoft Block Level Backup engine has had difficulties backing up to 4kB sector sized disks. The VHD libraries that it uses rely on 512B sectors on the backup disk. Read more...
  • Microsoft "important" update for Windows SBS 2011 and SharePoint 2010 issue — July 27, 2011 — There is an issue relating to Microsoft SharePoint 2010. This issue may also occur if you are running Windows SBS 2011 as SharePoint 2010 is included with this operating system. Read more...
