Description
Unhandled exceptions when running SQL backups are usually related to the back end of BackupAssist.
Resolution
There are 3 possible resolutions to this problem
Resolution 1 – Check for updates of BackupAssist
Unhandled exceptions can be resolved a lot of the time by updating the software.
Check for a later release by visiting our downloads page.
Resolution 2 – For the error, a non recoverable I/O error occurred on file <file name> 112 (failed to retrieve text for this error. Reason: 15105).
This I/O type error is usually generated due to insufficient space on one of the drives being available for the backup.
Check the backup destination and also any other drives which could be used to store temporary files during the backup.
Also changing the destination in which the SQL backups are being stored can resolve this error.
SQL Protection Backup
The steps to do this are as follows:
- Select the Jobs tab.
- Select the Manage menu
- Select the backup job
- Select Edit from the top menu
- Select Destination from the left menu.
- Under SQL Directory Options, change the directory to a location on the SQL Server - where you want the SQL backups to be saved.
SQL Backup
If you're running an SQL backup as part of another job, then follow these steps:
- Open BackupAssist.
- Select Manage Backup Jobs
- Select the backup job.
- Select Edit from the top menu
- Select Destination from the options on the left
- Change the Directory Path to where you'd like the SQL backup to be backed up to.
Solution 3 – Attempt a backup naively through SQL
Try running a backup of the databases which are causing the error through the native SQL backup within Windows.
More information about doing this can be found from Microsoft at https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms187510.aspx
