For use with Windows Server Core or Hyper-V Server machines. This version includes many of the pre-requisites for BackupAssist, such as .NET framework, that do not come with Windows Server 2008 Core or Hyper-V Server.

BackupAssist v6 new features
For users who have upgraded to BackupAssist v6 from a previous version. A basic understanding of BackupAssist is assumed.
Exchange mailbox backup
For users setting up mailbox and public folder backups using Exchange Mailbox Add-on (Exchange 2003, 2007, and 2010).
Exchange Client Access Server (CAS) backup configuration
Assistance for users in configuring a BackupAssist job to back up Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 mailboxes, where the Client Access Server (CAS) role is on a separate machine to the mailboxes.
Hyper-V backup and restore
For users setting up Hyper-V backups or those using the VM Granular Restore Console to restore files from Guest Virtual Machines.
Hyper-V Cluster Shared Volume (CSV) backup configuration
Assistance for new users needing to configure the BackupAssist jobs necessary to back up Microsoft Hyper-V hosts that utilize a Cluster Shared Volume (CSV).
BackupAssist Zip Engine backup
For users setting up backups to disk or tape (requires Zip-To-Tape Add-on) using the BackupAssist Zip Engine.

The following Rsync downloads are for users wanting to setup their own Rsync Server for use with BackupAssist for Rsync. For full instructions, including how Rsync works, best practices for offsite backup, options for data hosting and help with setting up Windows and Linux Rsync Servers, please download the BackupAssist for Rsync Whitepaper.

To use Rsync to synchronise data offsite from one machine to another via a LAN or a WAN, requires both client-side software on the machine where the data is located and server-side software on the machine where the data is to be stored.


Client-side software
BackupAssist comes deployed with the necessary Rsync libraries, so no additional software is required.
 
Server-side software (where you are hosting your data)
You can host your data on any Windows or Linux machine. Additional software is required for Windows machines.
