BackupAssist now
Windows Certified

Did you catch the good news late last month?

BackupAssist v8 is now officially Windows Certified for Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2!

This gives even more peace of mind (like you needed it!) that v8 provides the highest possible quality of protection for your systems and data.

This certification also extends to Hyper-V on both Server 2012 and Server 2012 R2 operating systems.

Version 6 EOL

All good things must come to an end.

And sadly, for BackupAssist v6, that End of Life will occur on March 31st 2015.

Upgrade to v8 before that date to benefit from all of the features you love, with a wealth of new technological advances.
And while v8 won't support Windows Server 2003, if you're using this OS you can still upgrade to v7 and retain the support you need.

If you'd like to read more about the v6 EOL, here's the info.

Find out whether your DR strategy is living up to its potential and have a chuckle at some silly zombie analogies.  It's win win.

Making headlines

Google may or may not have been hacked to the tune of 4.9 million Gmail logins this month.  Google has fervently denied the claims made by a hacker called "tvskit" on a BitCoin security forum that access had been gained to almost 5 million customers' usernames, email addresses and passwords. Western Digital announced this month that they've started shipping their new 8TB HDDs. These drives contain helium to allow them to cram in more disks while minimizing friction.  Even more excitingly, WD also disclosed that they're currently sampling a 10TB drive to "select customers" that uses the new technology of Shingled Magnetic Recording (SMR).  Ars Technica has the scoop.

Lastly this month, what happens when two chatbots talk to each other with no human intervention? Well, that's exactly what the Cornell University developers of AI software "Cleverbot" wanted to know too.  The answer?  Pure gold
