BA8012: An unexpected error occurred while starting the CryptoSafeGuard™ shield¶

Description¶
This error is returned if an error occurs while protector service is started.
Resolution¶
The most likely cause is that the service or its settings are broken. Uninstall BackupAssist, restart the computer, and reinstall the product. It is also a good idea to install the latest Windows Updates, or to review recently installed Windows Updates for known issues. You may also contact support.
