FAQs

Here are some commonly asked questions about BackupAssist ER.

What types of backups can I create?

BackupAssist ER is designed to provide a best practice backup strategy out of the box. This means it creates layered protection with a local backup (e.g. a local disk, NAS or external drive) that is then replicated to a cloud destination - we call this Disk to disk to cloud. The local backup is quick and easy to restore from, and the cloud backup provides an secure, off-site copy of your data. We even have a simple backup option that does not include the cloud replication process.

How are the backups made?

BackupAssist ER backups are incremental image backups that are efficiently replicated to the cloud using compression and deduplication.

How safe are my backups?

BackupAssist ER backups can be encrypted locally, and are always encrypted before being replicated to the cloud destination. On the cloud they are encrypted again by the cloud provider, meaning you have 2 layers of protection and not even your cloud provider can access your data.
