Troubleshooting rsync related issues

To assist the BackupAssist support team with troubleshooting your Rsync issue, please go through the following list of troubleshooting questions and email your answers to Support email address

1. Which version of cwRsync did you download?

Is it a 2.x version or a 3.x version?

2. Where did you download cwRsync from?

From the BackupAssist website - http://www.backupassist.com/rsync/
OR
From the cwRsync website?

3. Were you able to successfully install cwRsync on your server?

If not, what errors did you experience during installation?

4. If cwRsync installed successfully, are you able to start the RsyncServer and/or OpenSSHServer services?

If they both started, are they still running?

If the services are not running, are there any related errors in the Windows event viewer (Start > Run > eventvwr)?  What happens if you try to restart these services?

5. Were you able to create a cwRsync user account with SSH access?

Using CopSSH > "Activate a user" from the start menu are you able to setup an rsync user account with SSH access?

If you already have an account, does it have sufficient privileges?

6. Have you opened the required ports on your firewall?

Ensure that your firewall has either port 22 for ssh or 893 for rsync daemon open.

7. Do you haven an rsync job setup in BackupAssist?

If so, what happened when you clicked "register with server" (ssh only) and/or "test connection" from the Destination tab of your BackupAssist job?

If "test connection" works successfully, have you tried running a job? If so, what errors do you see in the rsync log section of the backup report?

8. Submit diagnostics to the support team

If none of the troubleshooting steps above work to resolve your issue, please submit a set of diagnostics by clicking Contact support in the bottom left corner of BackupAssist and selecting Contact support. You can paste your answers to the above questions within the Message field.
