What’s the difference between downloads – normal or Server Core

For a few months now we’ve offered a separate download for BackupAssist running on Server Core. You’ll notice that it’s a lot bigger than the normal download – about 90 meg versus 19 meg.
If you’re running either Windows Server 2008 Core, or Hyper-V Server (these are the operating systems without the full User Interface), you’ll need the bigger download. This is because Windows Server 2008 Core does not have many of the prerequisites for BackupAssist such as .NET framework – it is after all a cut-down version of Windows! The prerequisites bloat the download by over 70 meg.
Everyone else can download the normal, smaller version. So people running Windows 2000, XP, 2003, Vista and 2008 (with the UI) can use the smaller version.
