Modifying job settings

 

Each job created in BackupAssist can be configured individually according to your specific requirements.

To edit a job's settings:

  1. Click Jobs in the navigation bar
  2. Right click the job you want to modify and select Edit.

The settings that are available to configure for a job depend on the backup engine that the job uses.

Most job settings are shared across all backup engines, but some are unique to specific engines. Select a job setting to learn more about it:

Shared job settings
The following settings are available for configuration for all jobs:

NTBackup specific
The following settings are unique to jobs created with the NTBackup Method:

Overview
Naming, describe, and suspend or activate your backup job.

 

Open files
Select a snapshot manager to backup any open files.

Destination
Configure the hardware device where backups will be written to.

 

NTBackup options
Configure settings specific to the Windows Backup Utility (NTBackup.exe).

Scheduling
Choose and configure a media rotation scheme for backups.

Windows Imaging specific
The following settings are unique to jobs created with the Windows Imaging Method:
Calendar view
View a detailed calendar which describes your backup schedule.
 

Volume selection
Select which drive volumes should be backed up to your hardware device.

Exchange server
Configure the job to backup your Microsoft Exchange Server data.

 

Imaging options
Configure settings specific to the Windows Server 2008 / Vista Backup engine.

Files and folders
Select which files and folders should be backed up to your hardware device.

File Replication specific
The following settings are unique to jobs created using the File Replication Method:

SQL server *
Configure the job to backup your Microsoft SQL Server databases.

 

Replication options
Configure settings specific to the File Replication Backup engine.

Notifications
Setup reminder, report and maintenance notifications.
 

Destination
Configure File Replication engine specific destination settings.

Scripts
Input scripts to run before and after the backup process.

Rsync specific
The following settings are unique to jobs created using the File Replication Method:
Zip specific
The following settings are unique to jobs created using the Zip Method:
 

Rsync options
Configure settings specific to the Rsync engine, such as encryption and data transfer limits.

 

Zip options
Configure settings specific to the Zip backup engine.

 

Destination
Configure Rsync engine specific destination settings.

 

Destination
Configure specific destination settings for Zip Method jobs when backing up to a standalone tape drive.

     
* This option will not appear for Windows Imaging, File Replication, Zip, and Rsync jobs.
