BackupAssist Zip to tape Add-on

BackupAssist’s File Archiving can be used to back up data to a tape drive using the Zip to Tape Add–on. This feature is ideal for Windows 2008/R2 and 2012 servers, and SBS 2011 servers that have no native tape backup support.

Tape rotation schedules that support full, differential and incremental backups
Backup schemes created for your convenience that include both daily and offsite backups
Tape labelling so that if the expected tape is not loaded, the backup job will know and send an alert
Compress data as it is backed up to a tape using multithreaded compression and an open zip format
Encrypt your backups on the tape using 256-bit AES encryption
Restore data from a tape using BackupAssist’s Restore console

Tape drive settings

With the Zip to Tape Add–on, you can select a tape destination when you create a File Archiving backup job. The tape drive destination is configured for the backup job using a selection of useful settings that include tape ejection, backup appending and media notifications.

Tape rotation and labeling

Using a tape device means it is easy to implement media rotation and offsite backups in your backup strategy. BackupAssist supports media rotation and can write labels to your tapes based on the selected backup schedule. When the backup job runs, it will check that the correct tape has been loaded and provide a notification if the correct tape is not detected.

Customer testimonials

"We have 3 servers, 2 with [competitor] and one that wasn't backing up. I was looking for a solution for the 3rd server but didn't want to pay for [competitor].

"Your application was... much easier to use with the same level of protection."

"I'm glad that we found BackupAssist. Whilst we realise the importance of backups ourselves, it has always been difficult to sell to clients in small to medium business when we had to include software with a $1000+ price tag. BackupAssist will make the sale much easier not only because of the price tag, but because we KNOW that it works so well."

"NTBackup scheduling is clumsy and unreliable. Client did not want to spend on [major competitors'] products."

"Another Computer consultant evaluated, purchased and recommended this software to Network Integration Solutions Inc. Since then, we are so impressed, that as far as I'm concerned any of our new servers will have a license of BackupAssist to make the media management simple."
