Windows Server 2012 R2 Preview Available

Microsoft has released a preview version of Windows Server 2012 R2 as part of the MS Build conference going on in San Francisco for the next two days.

The preview sees the return of one feature whose disappearance led many otherwise well adjusted users into the depths of fury: the Start Button.

The image below from Engadget shows the Start Button, triumphantly returning to its lower left hand corner, albeit with the new Windows design.

According to Redmond Mag, there are four versions available: one for IT pros, one for head-in-the-cloud type Azure users, one for devs and a final version for SMB’s – the tongue twisting Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials.  Those looking to download the preview version of Server 2012 R2 Essentials can do that over at Microsoft’s site.

If you’re going to download and give R2 a go – let us know how it goes below.
