What does the plus sign (+) mean?
The international standard format for writing telephone numbers is + Country City Number. For example, +1 202 456 1111 or +44 20 7222 1234. The plus symbol indicates insert your international dialling prefix here. For the U.S. and Canada, it's 011. For UK and most of Europe, it's 00. There are several other prefixes used in various countries around the world.
