BA8206: No files/directories found for verification

Error code Product Applies to
BA8206 BackupAssist For BackupAssist Classic v14 and later.

Description

During a test restore, BackupAssist verifies the files and directories recorded in the backup's catalogue. BA8206 is a minor warning reported when the verification found no items to check.

In current versions the specific case where the job's Quick catalogue option is enabled is reported separately as BA8209, not BA8206. BA8206 now covers the narrower situations where a full catalogue was expected but nothing was available to verify - for example the backup contained no files, directories or volumes to check; the catalogue for the version being tested is empty or could not be read (the backup version may have been overwritten, or the catalogue may not have been generated successfully); or the wrong or an older backup medium is connected for a media-rotation job.

Resolution

Ensure the job's selection actually includes files, directories or volumes, and that the backup completed with data written. A backup with an empty or misconfigured selection produces nothing for the test restore to check.

Resolution 2 - Confirm the correct backup and media

Ensure the correct, most recent backup medium is connected (for jobs that rotate media), and confirm the backup version being tested still exists on the destination and has not been overwritten.

Resolution 3 - Re-run and contact technical support

Re-run the backup and test restore process. If the warning persists and you can confirm that there are files in the backup (and they can be restored), please contact our technical support team for help.

Note - this is not the Quick catalogue warning

If the job uses the Quick catalogue option, the condition you will see is BA8209, not BA8206. BA8206 does not indicate that Quick catalogue is enabled.
