BackupAssist v8 and later don't use NTBackup. This article applies to BackupAssist v7 and earlier, which reached end of life on 30 September 2016 and no longer receive technical support. See Software end of life.

Description¶
BackupAssist makes use of Windows NTbackup (start > run > ntbackup) to perform the backup operation.
NTbackup will be installed by default of the following operating systems:- Windows server 2003, Windows server 2000, Windows NT
Resolution¶
Unfortunately, NTBackup does not come pre-installed on Windows XP Home, but it can be installed manually from the Windows XP Home installation CD, and there are details on how to achieve this here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;q302894
