BA1517: Simple file sharing is enabled on the BackupAssist machine¶

Description¶
This error indicates that Simple File Sharing is enabled on the backup destination. This can cause issues with SQL being able to write successfully to the backup destination.
This usually occurs on Windows XP.
Resolution¶
To resolve this issue turn simple file sharing off on your backup destination.
To turn Simple File Sharing off in Windows XP, follow these steps:

Double-click My Computer on the desktop.

On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.

Click the View tab, and then un-tick the Use Simple File Sharing check box to turn off Simple File Sharing.
