Description

BackupAssist could not find any mailboxes to backup on the Exchange Server.

There are three known causes of this issue:

  1. Job configuration: there are no mailboxes selected for backup
  2. User permissions issue: the backup user identity does not have permissions to query the Exchange Server for a list of mailboxes.
  3. The LDAP query failed, and the list of mailboxes could not be retrieved.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, please try the following:

  1. In your backup job configuration, please make sure that there are some mailboxes selected to backup.
  2. Make sure that your backup user has Exchange administrator privileges at the organization level. To do this, please follow the instructions in KB article BA1754 Exchange Server administrative privileges are required to export mailboxes reliably, or make your backup user a member of the Domain Admins group.
  3. If the LDAP query is failing and the mailbox list could not be retrieved, check that your system partition on the Domain Controller has sufficient free space, as running out of space on system partition has been known to cause LDAP queries to fail.
