BA223: A new or unrecognized REV disk is inserted¶
| Error code | Product | Applies to |
|---|---|---|
| BA223 | BackupAssist | BackupAssist V4 |
Description¶
The REV disk that has been inserted into the drive has not been prepared for use within BackupAssist V4.
Resolution¶
There are 2 possible resolutions for this problem and each is described below.
Resolution 1 - Prepare the REV disk¶
Preparation of media within BackupAssist can be done either at the point of job creation or later from the edit jobs area.
To prepare media follow the steps below:
- Open BackupAssist.
- Select Manage Backup Jobs.
- Select the backup job.
- Select Edit from the top menu.
- Select Prepare Media from the top menu.
- Attach the drive you want to be prepared.
- Click Prepare on the relevant media name.

The media will then be assigned to that media label. For example a disk prepared for the 'Monday' label will be expected by BackupAssist each Monday.
Resolution 2 - Turn off media checking
If you would prefer BackupAssist to backup to disk without checking whether it is prepared you can turn off the media checking function. Edit your job and go to the Destination section. Under the Media checking control deselect the check box that reads 'Let BackupAssist keep track of your media'.
