BA2538: You currently have no historical image backups¶
| Error code | Product | Applies to |
|---|---|---|
| BA2538 | BackupAssist | BackupAssist v8.4 or later. |
Description¶
This may be due to user interaction such as formatting the drive, or removing or overwriting the backups. If the backups were not intentionally deleted, the loss of historical backups may be due to a VSS.
VSS can cause this issue when I/O delays or other failures occur while connecting to the volume, and some cases VSS may need to abort or delete all historical backups. This is very rare, and commonly occurs when backing up to low spec hardware, backing up across a slow network, and when the hardware or network are being over utilized.
Resolution¶
- Upgrade the backup device and/or network infrastructure.
- Ensure relevant hardware is only being used for the backup
- Change the time of the backup so that the I/O load is low.
Enable Shadow Copy Protect Mode if you are still losing backup history.
To enable Shadow Copy Protect Mode for System Protection backups:
- Select the Jobs tab's Manage Menu
- Select the backup job
- Select Edit
- Select Imaging options
- Select Shadow Copy Protection Mode under VSS Backup Mode
