BA265: The local directory does not exist

Error code Product Applies to
BA265 BackupAssist BackupAsist v4 and later

Description

BackupAssist is trying to backup to a directory that does not exist.

For example, if you are trying to backup to a directory such as F:\myBackup\daily and that directory does not exist, you may receive this error message.

In most cases, BackupAssist will try to create the backup directory automatically so if you receive this message, it is likely that the automatic creation failed.

Resolution

If you have received a BA266 error (meaning that automatic directory creation failed) then resolve this error first by following the instructions in KB article BA266 Cannot create backup directory

Alternatively, you can create the backup directory manually. Be sure to assign Write and Modify permissions to your Backup User Identity to allow BackupAssist to create and write backups to that directory.
