Description¶
This generic error that is produced when attempting to perform mailbox exports to PST file using the Exchange Granular add-on.
The error will always be accompanied by a specific error that is generated on the backup report.
It is recommended that you click the Solution link next to that error on the report to be able to resolve both errors.
Resolution¶
There are 3 possible resolutions for this problem
Resolution 1¶
The detailed error contains the line Unable to open any Message Store!
This is caused when using the Unicode PST using Outlook option. The most common reason is that Outlook 2003 is installed when attempting to backup mailboxes within Exchange 2010. Outlook 2003 MAPI isn't compatible with Exchange 2010 and it's recommended that you use Outlook 2007 32-bit or later. BackupAssist also does not support any version of Outlook 64-bit.
Resolution 2¶
The detailed error contains the line A network error prevented successful completion of the operation
Make sure that your Backup User Identity is a member of the following permission groups:
- BackupOperators (Server 2003 only)
- Domain Administrators
- Exchange Administrators
More information about permissions for mailbox backups can be located at www.backupassist.com/education/articles/setting-up-a-user-for-exchange-mailbox-backups.html
Resolution 3¶
The detailed error contains the line Timeout waiting for Profile Mutex.
We have discovered that this may be caused by backing up too many large mailboxes (2.5GB+) at one time and timeout errors are occurring to the Exchange server.
To get around this, try breaking up your PST backup into smaller jobs so that there isn't a possibility of overloading the backup process.
