BA4903: An Unexpected error occurred while running the restore simulation¶
| Error code | Product | Applies to |
|---|---|---|
| BA4903 | BackupAssist | BackupAssist v8 and later. |
Description¶
BackupAssist has encountered issues when running the Backup verification process.
Resolution¶
Resolution 1 - Perform a test restore from the backup¶
It is recommended that you attempt a restore from the backup that encountered this warning. If you are unable to perform a restore, then there is an issue and the verification error is valid and you should continue to troubleshoot.
To perform a restore from the backup, follow the steps outlined in the restore documentation.
Should the restore complete successfully, please report the issue to our support team for further assistance.
Resolution 2 - Try backing up to an alternate destination¶
Running the same backup to another destination helps isolate the issue. If running the backup to another destination removes the warning, then this means the issue is with the original destination and should be investigated further.
The backup destination is configured on the Destination tab within your backup job as follows:
- Open BackupAssist.
- Select Manage Backup Jobs
- Select the backup job.
- Select Edit from the top menu
- Select Destination from the options on the left.
- Click Select new destination at the top of the screen and follow the prompts.

Resolution 3 - If you do not want to use backup verification¶
If you do not want to perform a verification run during the backup process, it can be disabled from within your backup job.
To disable backup verification:
- Open BackupAssist.
- Select Manage Backup Jobs
- Select the backup job.
- Select Edit from the top menu
- Select Backup verification from the options on the left
- Untick Enable restore simulation
