Description¶
This error occurs if you're trying to use the VSS snapshot manager on an operating system which it doesn't come with (pre Server 2003/XP).
Resolution¶
Backing up open files on a Windows 2000 machine needed the Advanced Open Files Add-on, which stopped being sold on 31 December 2013. Technical support for BackupAssist on Windows 2000 ended on 30 June 2012.
